DePuy Synthes' Innovation Center was founded ten years ago to integrate new technologies into the company's plastic surgery portfolio, including patient-specific implants for 3D printing. The focus of this new investment is to advance the science of materials in 3D printing, coating and surface treatment to achieve higher quality implants and medical devices.
Last year, DePuy Synthes expanded its partnership with Materialize, a 3D printing software service provider, to develop a TRUMATCH personalized solution. The system enables surgeons to plan, design and order patient-specific 3D printed guides. After that, DePuy Synthes has enhanced its intervertebral implant combination, including titanium alloy PEEK technology for minimally invasive spinal surgery.
